You may not know, but Jo Malone offers a small selection of appointments with their experts. Recently I had one of my best friends over and arranged a hand and arm massage at our local Jo Malone. This is an introduction to the art of fragrance combining and with their expertise, they help you personalise a scent for you.
When we arrived, we were welcomed with delicious chocolates and introduced to our therapists. We were then seated at a small beautiful counter, which was laid out with soft towels and a selection of scents and oils.
They spoke to us about what types of scents we enjoy and gave us small velvet pouches to put our jewellery in, which we were able to keep.
Having indulged in a large choice of wonderful oils, we began to narrow down our choices and individual combinations.
My personal favourite was ‘Basil & Neroli’ and my friend’s favourite was ‘Peony & Blush Suede’. I did not expect to learn nearly as much as I did about perfume. Perfume has 3 Notes, 1 being a Base Note, 2 being a Heart Note and 3 being a Top Note. A good perfume will always consist of these three.
‘Basil & Neroli’ is described as “ A London Lark. London at its most fashionably young and fun. Flirt with oh- so floral neroli and a delicious wink of basil. Quintessentially British, always playful. Fresh, fun and full of adventure.”
Our therapists recommended this scent with ‘English Pear & Freesia’ for a fresh scent.
‘Peony & Blush Suede’ is described as “ Peonies in voluptuous bloom, exquisitely fragile. Flirtatious with the juicy bite of red apple and the opulence of jasmine, rose and gillyflower. Mingling with the sensuality of soft, blush suede. Luxurious and seductive.”
With this our therapists recommended ‘Blackberry & Bay’ for floral opulence and luxurious sensuality.
With our final selection complete our mini treatment began with exfoliation, followed by a massage with oils, creams and perfume on both the hands and arms.
It is intensely relaxing and enjoyable and well worth taking 20 minutes out of your day for!
